Sunday - Edinburgh

Whew, fun, fun day. After a good night's rest and a bite of breakfast it's off to explore before our 11:30 Castle Tour. Just wandering this town is so fun. We ducked into some random shops and just generally enjoyed the great weather. Ya just never know over here!

The Castle, the history, architecture - it's all mind blowing!

St. Giles Cathedral (we hope to visit inside)

Bev discovered the phone booth wasn't working!

Bev and our new friend Chris at the Castle.

Fish and chips - oh yeah!

Victoria Street

Panda and Sons speakeasy - I love this spot!

Our bartenders - they were so lovely to us. Free stuff at a bar? The best thing ever!

Rose bookcase is the secret door into the speakeasy!

We wandered Rose Street before ending up at the speakeasy. Rain was starting as we walked into the speakeasy and had cleared back up when we left - it was meant to be! I had gone to that speakeasy when I was here last and I was beyond pleased to see it hadn't changed!

Back home for an early night since we join our tour to St. Andrews and Fife. What a fun day we've had! And I think we will tomorrow as well!

NOTES:
Meeting Chris at the Castle was so nice. He's a tour guide and was waiting for his people to finish touring inside the Castle. Guides aren't allowed to give tours inside the Castle. We had the loveliest chat with him and he gave us some suggestions as to things to do. We wished each other well and parted ways. About an hour we were walking down Prince's Street and there he was. Another nice conversation!

While eating our fish and chips I was watching drama unfold behind Bev and I narrated to her. A large group of tourists came in & took up 2 tables. Their guide came storming by muttering  "bloody hell" They settled in and shortly thereafter about half of them got up and left. Then more left - ooooo, drama! Seem they didn't like that they couldn't get individual checks. Entertainment with our meal!

There was a whiskey tasting at the Castle - ooooo, good!
